More Magazine. Does anyone think More magazine is a little bit un Glamour? I say sexy over forty needs to kick it up a notch!

More Magazine, Lane Bryant, INC, Sigourney Weaver

I like More Magazine in that it caters to mature women. However the magazine is too conservative for me including this cover dress which lacks sex appeal (Sigourney is hot though!)

More magazine is a far cry from Cosmo. I need more fashion va-voom. More movin and shakin. More umpphhh? Like … InStyle!

The women’s dress shown on the cover of this fashion magazine (More Magazine) is not sexy enough for me.   I think Sigourney Weaver could have looked even more fabulous in a sexier ladies dress that showed her figure more.  Her hair and makeup do look really pretty though.

More Magazine is a magazine that caters specifically to mature women.  I took this snapshot of a more magazine cover while I was sitting in a doctor’s office waiting room.   I also had a subscription to this magazine at one point and for a year it came to my house.  I personally found More magazine to be a little dry and conservative however some ladies might like it.  At the time I had some other magazines coming too, including Glamour and InStyle and others.  I found myself picking up the other magazines over More.  I like looking at pictures and pictures of women and fashion and More doesn’t have quite as many layouts as the fashion magazines do.  When I tried to read the articles I found them a little bit dry to read.  Something about the writing made me tune out.  Needless to say, I didn’t renew my subscription.

I’d rather be a Cosmo Woman than a More Woman

The cover picture shown above sort of represents to me, in one fell swoop, what I didn’t really like about More Magazine.  Basically, it’s a little too conservative to me. Looking at this cover, I really don’t like what they have Sigourney Weaver in.  Her dress is supposed to be high fashion I would guess, but what is the point if her figure looks dumpy in it.  I have to say that I really think her hair and makeup look gorgeous in this cover though.  I love what they did to her hair and makeup.  She really is a sexy and pretty older woman for sure!  I like her a lot!  I think they made her look really pretty but the dress to me doesn’t work her as well as I think it could.

Don’t hide your shape in overly baggy clothes

The sleeveless shoulder is a cute idea and could be sexy but it doesn’t work for me in this photo because the dress is too loose and fails to show any of her curves.  The dress shows some skin but its really not good skin.  It just shows her arms and makes them actually look really big in fact.  She looks like she has football arms in this thing.  Then the dress is pretty much an unshapely caftan.  It does nothing to show her womanly shape, has no waistline to speak of, and looks pretty tent like as it goes down.  Her face and hair and skin tone and the red colors look really nice but I don’t think her body looks good at all in this.

I always thought Sigourney Weaver was skinny though this makes her look heavy and I am confused.  Anyways, I went searching on line for something that I liked more.  In the middle I am showing the basic concept with a shirt from INC I tried on at Macy’s.  It was a near fifty dollar shirt that was marked down to under ten dollars and with a coupon it would have been an additional 15% marked off that.  What I like is that the fabric is soft but the top at least shows some neckline and outlines the breasts and shows a waist and hip curve.  There is a woman there and it’s not all covered up like Sigourney’s tent dress. I guess I am saying I like a ten dollar shirt better than Sigourney’s dress on the cover of More because the shirt at least accentuates the figure and her dress doesn’t.

Choose clothes that give you a feminine waistline curve

Now, you might think that the tighter look is not for women that are heavier.  I beg to differ.  I went looking on Lane Bryant which caters to heavier women and I did find dresses that showed the curves and still looked great in larger sizes.  The blue one from Lane Bryant has the most coverage but it still has sex appeal with the peekaboo opening and the neckline and arms look way better in my opinion than the more magazine dress.  I don’t like what the sleeveless side does to Sigourney’s arms and I think having the halter straps or at least some detail on the dress would have looked better.   The blue top also gathers in at the waist, another way of showing the womanly curves.  I really like that blue top.  I don’t see any kind of waist on Sigourney she just looks big and boxy and unshapely.  I just think Sigourney’s body could have been made to look so much sexier and more gorgeous on this cover.

My opinion of the cover dress unfortunately translates to more magazine as a whole.  Something feels off to me and I don’t think it really makes the women look all that incredible as they could look.  Not only that, I found that the magazines articles, while informative, are a tad dry and boring.  I guess it’s just a little conservative for me overall.  Someone that is in a much more conservative career and lifestyle than me might like this magazine better than I.  I don’t want to knock it down on the one hand, but I want to say what I think because I suspect there are plenty of women like me out there in the world.  I feel like I’m a little more flashy and edgy than a more magazine woman.  Is there by any chance such thing as a Cosmo woman?
