Even Hollywood celebrities can be caught in awful looking makeup. These makeup photos and examples will show you want not to do. Avoid heavy makeup, too much black liner, frosted makeup, and too bright makeup colors. These makeup faux pas photo examples will help you steer clear of bad choices so that you can do it right and look natural and gorgeous as you age
Don’t wear makeup too heavy as it will age you
Just to the right of bright makeup color palettes shown is a picture of a celebrity woman Katie Price. She’s actually a pretty woman in her thirties yet as a pinup type celeb she goes way off with the loud makeup and clothes. Her heavy eyebrows and all the shadow combined with the false lashes and penciled in harsh dark eyebrows are too much. The colors aren’t so bad but she just has altogether too much makeup on her eyes in that picture. Too much makeup on a woman in her thirties is one thing. Too much caked on makeup on a mature women over forty is a big no.
Don’t wear makeup too black
I love neat clean, crisp black eyepencil as it draws focus to your eyes which should in fact be the focus point of your mature face. However, don’t take ultra black eyelashes, noir black eyeshadow, and coal black eyepencil past the limit, as demonstrated in the pictures. At upper left you can see Amy Winehouse with strong cat eyes that don’t look good and would even be more outrageously bad on an older woman. I really love Pamela Anderson but in the look you see at the lower right of the photograph she has too much black makeup on and starts to look like raccoon eyes. If that type of makeup smears then you will really look like a celebrity train wreck. So you see even the most gorgeous bombshells can mess up their makeup. We are not alone.
Don’t wear bright makeup as it has an aging effect on a woman
I love brightly colored makeup and I am always mesmerized by beautiful and bright makeup pictures in the fashion and glamour magazines, as well as the sparkly makeup displays at counters like Mac at the department stores, and Sephora makeup shops. I also like the artisty involved. You can use such pictures to get ideas as to what areas on the eye to apply the makeup to, yet I would avoid actually wearing the bright colors. Bright colors really do not enhance a woman’s natural beauty, nor do they make her look younger.
Don’t choose garish Las Vegas colors even though they look great in pictures
I’ve shown photographs of Elizabeth Taylor’s eyes and Marcia Cross’s eyes. Can you guess which ones they are? Needless to say, I like all the celebrity women shown and have seen them look super in millions of other pics, yet these ones just are not flattering. A tiny hint of color is one thing, a tidal wave of bright color like ocean blue is another. You want to wear the makeup (don’t let the makeup wear you).
Don’t go too overboard with the fake frosted look
Many eyeshadow colors have frosting built in to them. This shine and sparkle always look great when you look at the makeup, but is to avoided at all costs. Pearls, frostings, white makeup and sparkles (see the upper right photograph) generally accentuate wrinkles, grooves and aging lines in the skin! Anything pearly ends up looking crusty on older skin. It get’s a cakey look and the sparkles look like the makeup has been sitting on your face too long. In general I would avoid white and light frosty makeup colors, and don’t buy natural colors with sparkles build in to them either. Stick to natural looking yet strong matte colors as they adhere smoothly and accentuate a mature face much better.
Hopefully these makeup faux pas tips will help you understand that sometimes natural is better. While you don’t want to go so nude as to look wiped out and makeup-less, you also don’t want to go too overboard and wear clearly too much. With all of the dazzling makeup colors available, it is easy to mistakenly go for really bright colors. Let’s just say that the bright colors will only draw more attention to your face and it’s signs of aging. Go for strong neutral colors that enhance your beauty. You want yourself to stand out and look special, not the makeup. Leave the bright colors for the las vegas show girls and the younger models who can pull the looks off. Those over the top looks are best left in the pages of the fashion magazine. To look ageless, keep to the natural colors.
