Blush and rouge makeup are not attractive makeup products for older women.  A uniform beige makeup color over your entire face looks better than red rosy cheeks that stand out. 

Do not wear pink or red blush makeup because it draws attention to facial wrinkles

The fact is that as a mature woman our skin has wrinkles and flaws and creases in it. The single most thing that can draw unwanted attention to the wrinkles and creases is blush!  And forget about all those overpriced plumping primers that claim to change the blemishes and crevices.  It is just a fact that our skin is not going to be smooth and taught.  Even our facial expressions cause wrinkles. 

An all over healthy glow to your face is youthful and makes you look healthy

When you add something glaringly pink, red or brown (like blush) to your cheeks, you are accentuating flaws.   More often than not, people do not blend their blush properly and end up with demarking lines around their cheeks, neck or under the eyes that look horrible.  If it were up to me I would say to just eliminate the pink, rose and brown colored blush from your makeup arsenal once you hit our age.  In the photograph on the right I used a slightly darker foundation over my entire face which gives me a better glow than you see on the left. I always read that your foundation should match your skin tone perfectly. I disagree and think that on a mature face an ever so slightly darker foundation color can add a youthful “sun glow” tone to the skin that is vibrant. Don’t be afraid to go one little shade darker.

Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend your foundation for a natural beautiful result

Always take care to blend your makeup in at each and every step.  Check areas like your eyes, neck line and cheeks and make sure that there is no color demarkation where makeup is applied.  Blending well will make your makeup look way more natural and authentic.  After your makeup is done do a double check in the mirror and make sure you cannot see any strong lines or splotch marks on your face.  Everything should be matte and uniformly blended in.   Blending and uniformity really helps to minimuze wrinkles and skin flaws as it gives a clean allover look to your face.
