The most flattering makeup eyeshadow shades for mature women are on the brown, tan, beige, taupe color spectrum. Eye Shadow colors with orange tones like orange, rust, copper or brick are not flattering to mature skin tones and make a woman look older than her years. You can enhance your natural looks (and look gorgeous) or detract from then (and look like you are aging), depending on what makeup colors you apply to your face. Do you buy the right makeup to make yourself gorgeous? Women often get confused as to what makeup colors will make them look younger. Preselected makeup color quads even from affordable brands like Avon or Mary Kay Cosmetics can still cost you more money as they have done the work of choosing flattering makeup shades for you. Guess what, If you know what makeup colors are flattering then any makeup cosmetic line will do, even the most generic stuff at the 99cent stores. But you have to get the colors right above all else.

One casual makeup Don’t that I commonly see, even on celebrity women, is the use of orange, rust or copper colored eye shadows. As you can see on the left top image in the eyeshadow Do’s and Don’ts Picture, orange or copper eyeshadow can look fabulous on a young woman. In fact, you will find that many makeup lines (like MAC) promote the bright colors including bright rust.

Sometimes mature women become bored of the basic brown shadow color palettes. They may realize not to use bright pinks, purples, and greens (because those definitely do not complement mature skin). But they think, Oh well I can veer off from browns and beige’s and try an orangey or rust color for a nice twist. That little idea in their head leads to a big makeup mistake in my opinion. There is something about orange that connotes old lady in my opinion. It is really a stale color. I hate it. I have seen this color on many a makeup model and it never looks flattering on mature woman’s skin. On right I show the basic natural brown eye shadow tones, on the eyes of Brooke Shields, Heather Locklear and Carol Alt. I also show a basic brown makeup palette at top which is from Avon. Obviously Avon is geared more towards women and you can see by their color choices that they have colors that are going to be flattering on mature eyes. If you can’t afford to order Avon makeup you can always look for similar color palettes in cheap drugstore brands such as NY or Wet and Wild makeup. Brown tones are universally available you just need to find those colors in the makeup brand that you can best afford. While the brown, beige, tan, taupe and beige eyeshadow colors can seem boring, they really do look the best on women. They flatter your skin coloring and create an anti-aging effect. Be sure to use strong tones and don’t go too pale. Stay in the natural shades but definitely get some color going. You want to color your lids and line your eyes finely so that attention is drawn to them and they become the focus of your face.

So ladies, in this mature beauty tip I am reminding you that orange, copper, brick, and rust toned eyeshadows are not good color choices for mature skin. Neutral shades of brown, beige, tan, taupe, and natural colors are really the most flattering on women. Stick to these tones and look decades younger. To avoid washout and boring eyes, make sure to use strong yet natural tones. Don’t go too into the light beiges as they will make you look washed out and not draw the attention to your eyes that you hope for. Look in the mirror after applying makeup and make sure you have enough tone in your eye shadow color that focus is drawn to your eyes. You don’t have to go too dark on the brown, yet you need enough color to make your eyes pop. Use black mascara also to enhance your eyes for maximum mature beauty. Don’t be tempted by rust, orange or brick shadow colors as they really don’t flatter the mature woman at all.
