Women often don’t realize the true impact that eyebrows can make on total facial beauty. Loss of eyebrow hairs can make a woman feel self conscious about her appearance. In this series of beauty blog articles, we will go over everything from celebrity eyebrows to eyebrow transplant.
Eyebrow Transplant
Eyebrow loss can occur for a number of reasons including, trauma from a burn or accident, systemic disease from low thyroid levels or anemia, excessive plucking electrolysis or laser hair removal to reshape the brow, trichotillomania (TTM) obsessive compulsive plucking of the brows, and finally medical or surgical treatments such as chemo or radiation therapy.
An eyebrow transplant is one option for restoring eyebrows. Similar to a hair transplant, eyebrow restoration involves meticulous individual placement of 350-400 individual hairs in a procedure to restore the appearance of the brows. Eyebrow transplants are tricky because each hair has to be grafted at a specific angle and direction to mimic their natural position. Transplants are becoming more popular as more women become aware that hair transplants aren’t just for the head, you can have it done for eyebrows and eyelashes as well.
Eyebrow Tattoo
For women who have suffered from the alopecia, or loss of their eyebrow hair, cosmetic eyebrow tattooing can be a godsend for them. Application of permanent eyebrows is done the same way as regular tattooing. A hand held tattoo gun/needle dispenses biocompatible ink into the area to be tattooed. Some professional eyebrow tattoo artists draw the eyebrow tattoo as a solid block of color, while others try to use strokes to simulate the appearance of natural hairs.
Eyebrow tattoos are essentially permanent as they take years to fade. This is therefore a delicate decision and great care must be taken when choosing the color and style of the tattoo. We will go into way more details about eyebrow tattoos in more blog posts. Depending on how it is done, an eyebrow tattoo can look absolutely fantastic, or ridiculously phony. Since eyebrows are such an important part of the face, women considering tattoos must be 100% confident of their decision. Women who have been penciling in their eyebrows for years and are dead certain about the shape, color and style of brow they want are likely to be happy with the outcome of a tattoo. A woman who gets one without giving it much though, might later really regret being stuck with her tattoo.
Eyebrow Pencil
Eyebrow pencils in a natural shade are the most economical means of filling in eyebrows that there is. Using a pencil in a natural color near to ones natural eyebrow shade can dramatically enhance the beautifulness of a woman’s face. To learn how to pencil, you can go to a makeup counter and ask for a professional to show you. The first time you are buying an eyebrow pencil be sure to have a makeup artist help you. Some makeup pros prefer to use an eye shadow matching the eyebrow color and they apply it with a makeup brush instead of a pencil.
Makeup counters and stores are great for this. Get help selecting the perfect shade eye pencil color. You can buy a more expensive eye brow pencil or shadow the first time. When it runs out, take the pencil to the drugstore with you and find a cheaper replacement that matches closely to the color. Older women tend to have very sparse eyebrows. Penciling the brows lightly with a natural looking color can greatly enhance a woman’s face and make her look years younger.
Eyebrow Shaping
Eyebrow styles are all over the map. Some women prefer hairy natural brows, while other women prefer tweezed thin eyebrows. Some women like an obvious arch and some don’t. The best compromise is something in the middle. For older women, a bit of eyebrow shaping can actually help anti age them. All natural brows look great on younger women but as you age your forehead drops. If you get natural brows sitting down too close to the eyes, it is going to close the eyes in and look harsh. Tweezing a clean space under the brows and creating a small eyebrow arch can be great for older women – it gives them a free forehead lift. The only danger is that the concept might be taken too far … way, way too far!
In the eyebrow photograph examples we show a gallery of photographs of eyebrows gone wild. This is all in good fun.
