Heidi Montag's mom from The Hills, and Kelly Cutrone from The City. Heidi looks too cosmetically perfect, she needs to get more natural again. She's aging herself not anti-aging.
Two over forty women from MTV TV shows, plus the Addicted to Plastic Surgery People Magazine article about Heidi Montag
Hollywood seems to like the beautiful over forty women these days! There are so many movie actresses from Diane Lane to Julianne Moore to the many others we love. Then on the primetime channels there are shows like Desperate Housewives with Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, and Nicolette Sheridan. Have the cable channels followed suit? To a certain extent yes, for example, there is the Housewives of Orange County. Yet for some reason I’ve found myself tuning out to those shows (featuring pretty moms and housewives) of late, maybe the novelty has worn off?
I confess I do still watch MTV The Hills, and The City (guilty pleasure). I can’t help but notice that there are only a few older female actresses on those shows. In fact, I only see two LOL! One is Kelly Cutrone, who plays Whitney Port’s employer on The City, and the other is Heidi Montag’s mom, Darlene Egelhoff from the MTV show The Hills. At some point, I migrated away from shows like Desperate Housewives and The Bachelor, and over to MTV/VH1 shows like Rock of Love, Tough Love, and The Hills. Many of my over forty women friends also watch MTV and VH1 with glee, including my one over forty friend who Tivo’s Tool Academy (I’m not kidding)! Just because we’re old doesn’t mean we don’t like superficial and silly T.V.
For fun, I found two pictures of Cutrone and Heidi’s mom where they really look pretty! On the actual shows, however, the stylists always down play the attractiveness of these mature women. I don’t really get it. On the City they have Cutrone in frumpy all black blasé clothes with almost no defining makeup at all, looking pretty much awful. And she is supposed to be at the head of a fashion business! In reality, and judging from the picture I show, she is actually somewhat attractive. Same goes for Heidi’s mom. They play down her prettiness in the show and portray her as way earthy and natural to the point of country bumpkin (seems to match her personality from what I can tell though). Don’t get me wrong, I really like these two ladies – both have great strong personalities!
Darlene Egelhoff’s daughter is Heidi Montag, the one who was splashed all over the magazine covers recently for having undergone some ten plastic surgery procedures. She got her breasts enlarged, chin reduced and nose redone, her bottom shaped with fat transfer, and she wants more even more surgeries. I actually thought she was really pretty before the procedures. Now she looks overly perfect which to me ages her. She looks picture perfect yet much older than her age. I do like plastic surgery if it turns out nice, but I think she changed her look to be so synthetically perfect that she actually looks years older than her actual age. My main objection to Montag’s overhaul is not really the plastic surgery. It’s her near white blond hair and the light eyebrows! She looks too perfect and has the plastic look now. I think all the cosmetic changes accumulated together with her hair especially, have an aging effect on her. She really lost the youthful girl next door look. I also think her breast implants are really too big, which causes her to look older too. Her nose job/rhinoplasty and reduced chin looks nice to me. Technically speaking I can’t criticize what she changed but the over all effect combined with her obvious big lips, straight white hair and sophisticated clothes just make her look like a woman in at least her thirties. She looks like a Housewife of Orange County now!
There comes a point of no return where plastic surgery and cosmetic perfection in general, can start to make you look older instead of younger. It starts to have the opposite effect than what you want and looks unnatural. Keeping a natural essense to your appearance is what anti-ages you.
She looks too perfect and I have a beauty theory that when you start to look too perfect from plastic surgery, hair, clothes, etc, you start to look older. That’s when plastic surgery becomes border line. I think it’s important to keep a natural look about you. It’s all too much so then she has that fake look. Even if she just let her hair or one thing be natural it would really help (see her in jean shorts with wavy hair, somewhat improved). In the photograph at lower right she looks a little less plastic because her hair is messy and her breasts are concealed more (they don’t look quite as silicon fake).
I liked her hair darker blonde. She could get back to something more natural looking if she stopped bleaching and straightening her hair and dressed younger again. I think getting really big breast implants when you are a mature woman is a mistake. If you risk getting implants to reshape sagging breasts due to multiple pregnancies, weight loss or aging it’s one thing, but to drastically change bra cup sizes for the mere purpose of display, is another. I think Heidi Montag looks too perfect on that People magazine cover and the overall result is that she looks substantially older than her real age now. Hollywood women get plastic surgery all the time (secretively). Maybe she went overboard, but she went public with it. To me, that says something about her personality.
What do you think about Heidi’s plastic surgery and her mom’s reaction (displeasure) to it?
