    Supermodel Carol Alt Eating Raw Diet

    Carol Alt is definitely a mature beauty. I love this woman! She is an international supermodel (one of the originals) along with being an actress, organic skin care entrepreneur and raw-food enthusiast. I’ve recently checked out her two books on healthy eating, including The Raw 50 and Eating in the Raw. She also wrote This years Model and Model, Incorporated. She is well known for publically speaking out about her prior issues with weight and being a fashion supermodel. She admits to having tried every fad diet and constantly struggling with her weight, chronic headaches and sinusitus during her career. A random visit to a health doctor over a decade ago got her on a healthy eating program of very specific raw foods that include raw vegetables, cold-pressed oils, evaporated sea salts, fresh fruits and seared fish. Carol Alt’s love of the raw food lifestyle led her to also promote on home shopping network (HSN) an organic skin care line called raw essentials.

    Raw food means raw uncooked food. Carol Alt is a raw food enthusiast but she is not a vegan. She eats all kinds of fish, meats, cheeses, sprouted breads, unpasteurized raw milk cheeses, fruits and vegetables. She is hooked on the natural flavor of the food which has not been killed by processing it or cooking it. She flavors the food with raw spices too, like peppers, ginger, sea salt, onion, garlic and thyme.

    One thing I have to say is that I am not a fan of cooking. So, I do eat quite a bit of raw food myself. But I don’t restrict myself to the raw foods. I of course also will eat cooked food as well. For one thing, I am very wary of eating raw meats. I despise sushi. My friend was a sushi lover and ate sushi religiously. I can’t count how many times he became ill or landed stomach aches from the raw fish. You would have to be exceedingly wary about the safety and origins of raw fish and raw meats to maintain such a diet in my opinion.

    I eat mostly vegan yet there is something to be said about eating meat, at least sometimes. I do eat lean meat on occasion because it is an easy and convenient way to get protein. I eat a burger or chicken every now and then. Vegans have to work too hard to get their protein in. A little bit of meat here and there can be good, but I would much rather eat cooked meat over raw or lightly seared, as I personally believe it is safer for one’s health since the heat kills bacteria.

    I’ve noticed that women who have had prior struggles with their weight tend to be a bit fanatical when it comes to the healthy eating habits they adopt upon conquering demons. It seems to me that they have an easier time staying healthy if they are able to lock onto certain health and diet rituals. There were very unhealthy then they convert to overly healthy (with an underlying theme going on both ends of the spectrum which is obsessive).

    One has to be careful not to fall into the grey area of an overly healthy lifestyle. I personally believe it is best to keep a practical, maintainable approach to long term healthy eating. It makes it easier to navigate through life if you’re allowed to have a cooked dinner at Thanksgiving. It’s social must for most of us!

    I think Carol Alt’s raw eating approach is definitely interesting but I would take it as a recommendation to merely eat more healthy raw foods (as opposed to diet plan to eat –only- raw foods). You can certainly pick up some healthy eating tips from Alt without converting to a whole new raw food diet way of life. Raw fruits and veggies are certainly better for you than junk food and fast food. She’s certainly right about that! If you need to incorporate more fruits, vegetables and grains into your diet you by all means should do it. She has some interesting raw food diet recipe suggestions in her books.

    Natural makeup, ice blue eyes, sexy fashion sense and wild hair

    Looking at younger pictures of Alt, through her modeling years and up until now, there is no doubt that she is a very beautiful woman. Some of the photos with her hair tame and long with blunt bangs reminded me of mindy’s look from mork and mindy. Alt’s wild pinned up teased hair style, on the other hand, is definitely a trademark hairstyle that took her from mindy to ultra supermodel fabulous. That wild, wild hair really was gorgeous and reminds me of other aging supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Kathy Ireland back in their heyday. Sexy sex-kitten hairdos is definitely supermodel-esque.

    Other beautiful aspects of her look include consistently natural looking makeup, great fashion style, and of course the wavy tousled hair. Carol Alt definitely knows how to dress to impress. In her winter outfits she wears lot of natural neutral colors and textures. In summer she wears sexy low cut tops, thicker necklaces, hoop earrings and bright vibrant colors. I see her in many deep jewel tone colors such as purple red and green. Those colors would naturally bring out and enhance her ice blue eyes.

    Carol Alt is one of those women that has been gorgeous her whole life. Even younger pictures of her show her to be gorgeous. I have read many reviews of her looks including speculations of possible plastic surgery and lip injections. Though she claims she looks ten years younger due to her raw food diet and raw natural skin care line, most reviews find her to have had some discrete plastic surgery too. Her lips, cheeks and eyes all show signs of some work or enhancements. Regardless of that fact and what she has done, her beauty is still timeless and tasteful. I’d say she is a real mature beauty.

    You can try her raw food lifestyle, which she attributes her ageless beauty and health to, or not. What strikes me from looking at so many photographs of her, is that she wears natural looking makeup that brings out her features (especially her gorgeous eyes), sexy clothes in mostly solid colors, textures in the winter and jewel tones in the summer, she shows some serious cleavage, and she keeps her hair long, and sexy. Who says women can’t wear their hair long over forty? As long as your hair is healthy and voluminous you can wear it longer. Her length is optimal right between the shoulder and chest length. With her classic good looks, healthy way of life, and amazing fashion sense from years of modeling, she’s surely going to be naturally beautiful for a long time to come. It’s no wonder she appeared on hundreds of magazine covers. Love.
