    Follow a healthy diet

    Believe it or not, well over a quarter of cancers can be linked to diet choices! A basic cancer prevention diet focuses on healthy eating. Foods that are high in calories and fats are minimized. There are plenty of long term beauty benefits to eating healthy foods that focus on cancer prevention. Try to emphasize fruits, vegetables, grain-based foods and legumes in your diet when possible.

    A few simple guidelines include reducing foods that are high in fat, for example reducing consumption of fatty meat, and battling free radicals with nutrients. High fat foods lead to fat cells, which can help lead to development of cancer cells and other health problems down the road. That’s why you’ll see most nutritionists telling you to cut back on saturated and trans fats (unhealthy fat) in your diet. Meats if they are healthy and lean can be fine, such as turkey, chicken and fish. However charcoaled meat and fried fast food meat should be reduced in ones diet since smoked and fried foods can have carcinogens in them.

    If you start to eat healthier, you will be fighting those dangerous free radicals. Folic acid, calcium, selenium, zinc, beta carotene and vitamins a, b, c, d, and e can all be found in your fruits and vegetables. A good tip for women who don’t eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables is to spend a bit of money on fresh fruit and vegetable platters at the local market. These ready made platters are normally for parties but can be great additions to your home refrigerator. Everything is cut up, washed and ready to eat. For women who don’t get enough fruit and vegetable intake, having something easy and appetizing can mean the difference between eating healthy foods or not.

    Get regular low impact exercise

    You should know that regular, safe exercise helps to reduce your risk for many different types of caner. The American Cancer Society always recommends that you exercise some 30 minutes preferably 5 days a week. The more exercise the better, provided that the exercise is safe. As you get older you don’t want to exercise to the point where you sustain an injury. Physical injuries become incredibly hard to overcome and cure completely from after the age of forty. Once you strain your back or neck you could potentially have ongoing problems. That’s why the safety part of exercising becomes crucial as you age.

    I have many suggestions about easy ways to exercise, including walking and mild nautilus workouts at the gym. Social sports such as swimming or swim classes, tennis and hiking are great as well. Never jump into an exercise program too quickly and beware of strenuous workout boot camp or advanced yoga classes and extreme sports, that you are not in good enough physical shape to be participating in. Try walking, swimming, hiking, low impact or beginning classes, or low stress team sports.

    Exercise is invaluable to your beauty as you age. Once over the age of forty, women tend to become soft and flabby. Walking can help keep your health and weight in check but it is the weight resistance exercises that can really benefit your beauty massively at this age bracket. Gentle weight resistance workouts that you can get from the nautilus at the gym or home exercise machines and videos can help with the toning older women need to keep their body looking tight.

    Carry medical insurance

    Many women are blowing off medical insurance coverage because they have lost their job and don’t have the means to pay for an insurance policy. This is generally a bad idea to be completely without insurance.

    Women who have no insurance can easily become complacent about regular checkups because they don’t want to pay for them. And if they get hurt, they tend to avoid getting checked out by a doctor for financial reasons which is another problem. I’ve seen women pay for expensive beauty salon hair dye and hair cuts who don’t have medical insurance and there is something really wrong with that picture. Health insurance should be a beauty priority for women.

    If you find yourself without medical insurance coverage and cannot get coverage through employment, your spouse or family, then consider buying independent insurance. They do have what is called catastrophic insurance policies that women can buy for only a few hundred dollars a month. Granted this is not as good as a PPO or HMO where everything is covered including prescriptions, but it will do in a pinch.

    Catastrophic insurance policies generally have very high deductable amounts. That means the first five or ten thousand dollars each year for medical expenses come right out of your pocket first before insurance coverage even kicks in. It sounds lousy but you have to understand that cancer or a serious accident can cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket. Therefore, it is worth it to even carry one of these policies because if something real serious happens you will be insured above the base deductable amount.

    Most insurance policies, even the catastrophic ones, cover a basic yearly physical and preventatives including pap smear and breast mammogram. If you have some sort of insurance you are way more likely to take advantage of your yearly checkups. Yearly checkups are incredibly important. Getting a yearly blood test that checks limits and risks for cholesterol, triglycerides and other measures are invaluable. You might know that you need to get healthier, but blow it off. There is nothing like a blood test result showing a value out of bounds high or low to kick your mind into gear. There is no sweeping a blood test result under the rug. If you find that you are at risk for certain problems, knowing it as a fact by virtue of a blood test result can be the kick in the behind you need to actually take steps to improve your health. That is why basic insurance coverage and regular checkups are crucial for women.

    Your wake up call should be to understand that over half a million cancer deaths in the US every year can be attributed to poor diet and exercise. Exercising and a healthful diet are proven to reduce cancer risk. They are every bit as important as quitting smoking.

    How a healthy diet, exercise, medical insurance and your beauty can go hand in hand

    I am not a diet or nutrition expert, just a woman with some good beauty advice and tips. I can say that following a healthy diet can be incredibly beneficial to your beauty. The most important thing you will get from diet is healthy skin, hair, nails and body weight. The healthy fats in your diet (from foods such as avocado and olive oil) can soften your hair, nails and skin from the inside out. Women who have an unhealthy diet tend to have brittle hair and nails (not to mention bones). Conducting a healthy diet will also help you maintain a consistent weight over time. Obesity comes with health risks. Not only that, yo-yo dieting can lead to severe beauty problems most notably loose skin and stretch marks which are very hard to eradicate once they present.

    A toned body from regular exercise that includes both cardio and resistance exercise, can make an aging women look and feel way more athletic and younger. As you age being thin doesn’t always look good as you can get a gaunt x-ray thin appearance that ages you. Having a rounder, athletic and toned body is going to make you look more beautiful. Exercise that includes some mild form of resistance training that tones your body will certainly help you get closer to that celebrity body you dream of.

    Being proactive about medical insurance, following through with yearly physicals and gyno appointments and taking care of yourself should be a priority. I think that women who are in good health and on top of it are also likely to keep up with their beauty as well. Remember that beauty and your health can go hand in hand nicely. One helps the other and vice versa. You have to take care of yourself and put yourself at a priority because trust me noone else will. As women we tend to be givers and are always taking care of others. The women who put others over themselves may seem like saints but really they do themselves no favors when they come down with health problems as a consequence of ignoring their own health matters.
