Makeup to conceal your aging eyes
A serious sign of aging with older women shows up around our eyes. Obviously there is the problem of under eye bags, and under eye wrinkles. Now there are ways to deal with that the main one being eye under eye plastic surgery, upper eye plastic surgery and a lift of the eye corner as well as tightening the muscle that keeps the eye lid up. But aside from loose skin, there is the problem is discoloration. Women don’t just get under eye bags they get bad gray, blue, black type discoloration around the inside of their eyes near the inner corner of the eye and the nose. Now it is what we do to conceal that problem area that can easily make us old, or much younger.
Concealing inner eye discoloration with natural eye makeup
In the eye makeup examples shown, I demonstrate the discoloration/aging eye problem along with examples of eye makeup application that effectively correct it. At far left in the example photograph, you can see eyes with ugly discoloration and muddy makeup. The entire column at left shows examples of this eye discoloration problem that makes women look tired and older.
In the middle of the eye makeup example photograph are a bunch of really good examples of corrective makeup. These women look pretty fantastic and way younger. The reason is that they have concealed the inner eye discoloration correctly. The idea is to use a beige natural looking color to do the concealing.
Now this is really important. At far right, I am showing a column where the correction gets overdone and progressively creates a new problem! The problem is trying to conceal the aging inner eye of an older woman by using too white of a shadow color. Gosh I see makeup artists use the white shadow on the inner eye all the time. For the pre-boomer women, that looks twinkly and nice. But for our age bracket, the white gunk looks hideous and instead of correcting the problem at left it creates a new crusty eye makeup problem at right. The problem gets progressively worse as you look down the column of examples. Bottom line is that it really is diminishing returns to try and cover aging with too much white because the white ages you too.
Looking at all of the eye makeup examples shown at center of the eye shadow examples you see really good aging coverage. Similar to the white trick, the inner eye is lightened. But the key is to use a nude natural color that is slightly lighter than skin tone. It creates an anti aging lift while keeping the eyes looking natural and younger. I am going to tell you step by step how to do the eye makeup right.
Anti aging conceal dark old eyes in three eye shadow steps
The first step is the concealer to cover dark discoloration. I like MAC concealer NW. To get your eyes anti-aged perfectly you can follow three simple steps. First, before applying any eye makeup use a light moisturizer to get skin ready then apply a bit of concealer that is light nude to the area. The concealer should be creamy and go on smooth not cakey or flaky. That will light up the dark areas. With the concealer on the dark spots should now be lighter than the rest of the eyes by a tad.
The second step is now bring down the concealed coverage to a natural looking color that is a near match to your real skin tone. You are going to have to try a few shades of nude and beige eye shadow color and makeup brands to find the perfect one. Depending on your skin tone, you can go for an exact match to your skin, ever so slightly lighter, or ever so slightly darker. You need an eye shadow that is matte with no sparkle to it. Apply the shadow over the concealed areas.
The third step is to check out the result and now get your eyes blended seemlessly into your face using a pressed or mineral powder makeup. Apply a light coat of pressed powder in a light natural tan color to your face to get a healthy glow going. Your goal is to appear lightly sunkissed and even all over with the use of a natural looking bronzer, pressed powder or mineral makeup powder. Your inner eyes should be way better of a flowing match to your facial skin after you apply an overal face bronzer. Are they? Look at your inner eyes and make sure they are still blending and not looking too white or ghostly. Do a light pass over with the tan powder using a large makeup brush to blend in again.
Your eyes should look much, much younger. If you still see dark discoloration peeking through, try this final correction. Take a smaller makeup brush or your finger and carefully apply some pressed powder in a light natural beige color. A touch of light colored pressed powder should cover any dark discoloration that manages to rear its ugly head through the makeup. Remember, you don’t need a lot of makeup to achieve this. If you are having to use too much makeup then try a different concealer.
Dark coloration around the eyes is really aging on women on the one hand. On the other hand, over correcting the problem with twinkly white makeup at the inner corners of the eyes or on lids makes you look crusty and older. Therefore, correct inner eye discoloration carefully with the right natural looking beige colors. You will get the anti-aging eye effect that you are looking for, I promise!
