Best anti ageing creams with Plant Stem Cells
Every few years, skin care products come out with a new ingredient that is meant to turn back the ageing clock and help women stay younger. The latest, are the creams featuring plant stem cells. I’ve seen the cell, stem cell, plant stem cells marketing in a plethora of wrinkle creams. You can find them in anti-aging creams at all prices, from drugstore brands to the high end pricey ones.
Plant stem cells: A cure for aging?
Over the past years there always seem to be a new trendy anti wrinkle ingredient on the scene. First there were antioxidants. Antioxidants help stop the destruction of the skin cells by those free radicals. Next came the glycolic based products, which boasted the ability to improve skin elasticity and thickness. Finally, came the neuropeptides which cosmetic companies claim to repair damaged skin cells. All of these special ingredients have their merits and are put into products to help reverse, or at the least postpone, the signs of aging. Now, the hot ingredient on the scene seems to be plant stem cells.
At the growing tip of a plant shoot are where stem cells are located. Plant stem cells can survive, and revive. Stem cell research in humans brings up ethical issues, but with plants these issues don’t prevail. Cloning happens both in the garden and in the lab, when you take leaves and replant them in soil or water. So, obviously, plant and their stem cells have a great regenerative nature (even though I’ve killed a few by ahem, not keeping them hydrated). And not surprisingly, women want a miracle cream which will regenerate new skin cells, replace the old ones, and regenerate younger skin! Because plants stay in one place, they have an incredible ability to adapt to the environment. So, maybe their stem cells thrown into a cream and smeared on us, will help. If the medicine men sure believed in the curative nature of plants, why shouldn’t we!
Whether these plant stem cells are a cure for aging is the question. The argument is that human epidermal cells are slow to renew themselves so the dying cells outnumber the regenerating cells, leading to a decline in the skin’s youth. Plant stem cells divide easily so the theory is that the plant stem cells can effectively fight common signs of aging.
Stimulating cell growth
Who really knows if the ingredients penetrate that deeply, bond with our skin, and anti age us. What I do know, though, is that natural herbs, fruits, vegetables and plant ingredients tend to be a pretty good thing. Organic beauty product companies have used such ingredients for years, but now they are “trendy”. So, I say, if they concentrate that into a cream and it does not irritate your skin, it’s worth a try. You want to eat healthy so why not put healthy ingrediants on the skin as well.
Miracle anti-wrinkle cream?
I read of one study in Switzerland whereby crow’s feet were reduced using plant stem cell cream by 8%. The study extracted stem cells from a Spatlauber apple and demonstrated that when applied to the skin it could help protect the human skin cells from UV sun exposure and neutralize the effects of aging. But honestly, who knows if placing a cream with some plant cells in it really and truly helps human cell regeneration. I am not sure one study or even a few studies constitutes proof. Quite frankly, I think it is a stretch. But I actually do believe some of these plant based skin cream ingredients can be soothing and quite beneficial for the skin. While they probably don’t represent a miracle, they may definitely be helpful. It is proven that some plant based ingredients are helpful in skin care. For example, think of aloe which helps relieve cuts and sun burns. No doubt, some of these ingredients in plants can have benefits.
Should you try the plant stem cell creams?
Any anti-wrinkle cream containing potentially useful ingredients are worth a shot. What is nice is that many of the ingredients make their way down into the less expensive drug store brands, since it is good to be able to afford them. It doesn’t hurt to try the creams, but if something irritates your skin in any way I would not continue to use it. Various ingredients can cause allergic reactions and skin sensitivity in women. That is why trial and error is so important. Honestly, inexpensive body butter with natural ingredients and minerals added does the trick for me. Hydration, moisture, and compatibility with the skin are the key to finding that perfect skin cream.
