AboutPlasticSurgery.com gives my readers some considerations before plastic surgery. Their site has many before and after breast implant photographs and a surgeon locator. I show two example before and afters in this picture, from Leonard Roudner and Stephen Ronan. I picked them because I think the women got really nice results. Visit aboutplasticsurgery.com for more.
Tips from AboutPlasticSurgery.com
Our online friends at About Plastic Surgery contributed this article of useful tips for women about plastic surgery. Their web site is a good resource with many before and after examples of breast implant surgery, repair and revisions. The photographs are well organized and contributed by a number of plastic surgeons to their web site. I was particularly interested in some of the doctors who had excellent photographs of breast implant work after disfiguration from child birth. Excellent results. Thanks to our friend for contributing these useful considerations before plastic surgery tips to Mature Beauty!
Considerations before Plastic Surgery
The decision to undergo plastic surgery is one that requires careful consideration. After all, surgically altering your appearance, even slightly, is a very involved approach to self-beautification, and is an idea that should not be taken lightly. However, deciding whether or not to have plastic surgery is only half of the battle. Once you make this decision, you will also have several other things to consider. Here are a few common considerations:
How To Choose The Right Doctor
a. Keep in mind that every single doctor advertises him or herself as being proficient in his or her branch of medicine. Do not simply take a doctors “word for it”. Look into your doctor using sources outside of the doctor’s office.
b. Use your online resources. Websites like www.AboutPlasticSurgery.com/ sometimes contain helpful information, or even search engines, designed to help you to find a doctor that suits your needs and desires.
c. Consult people you know. If you have friends or relatives who have undergone plastic surgery, consider asking them about how they found their doctors, or even whether or not their doctors could help you.
How To Prepare For Surgery
a. Aside from keeping up general health, the best thing that you can do to prepare is, once you have found a doctor whom you trust, trust his or her advice for preparation.
b. It is generally advisable to at least temporarily refrain from smoking for as long as possible before and after your surgery as this improves your overall health, and helps to prepare the body for recovery. Specifically, your surgical wounds will require oxygen to heal, and a smoke-free body circulates oxygen more clearly and efficiently.
c. Set up your recovery in advance. Make sure that you have enough time off of work or school, and that you have people ready to support you. Also, again, follow the doctor’s orders and you will likely have a comfortable and satisfying recovery.
Each patients needs and motivation are unique
These are of course just a few of the things that people should consider when heading into plastic surgery. Depending on each individual case, and each individual patient, there are often a variety of other factors that come into play. Ultimately, the most important thing is to make sure that you have done enough research to understand the full weight of your decision. Particularly if you are going into breast surgery because of some sort of disfiguration due to pregnancy or disease, it may seem like your only option, and you may be convinced that surgery is the healthiest option.
Still, though, you will definitely want to make sure that you understand all aspects of your surgery and the recovery process. If you follow the loose guidelines above, making sure that you have a doctor that you trust and ensuring that you are prepared for the recovery process, you will be setting yourself up for a less stressful transition. With the right doctor, careful healing, and general preparedness, your surgery can go exactly as you envision it.
Once again thank you to About Plastic Surgery for this contribution. I picked out two before and after examples that I really liked from their collection and you can see many more on their site. The first enlargement before and after photo was done by plastic surgeon Loenard Roudner. I think his patients result is great and an example of a relatively flat chested woman who got a really good breast job result. Some women have small breasts and at some point later in their adult life they splurge and get implants. If they turn out nicely they can be really a confidence boost, especially for women in middle age who always felt their breast size was too small.
The second photograph shows another good result by plastic surgeon Stephen Ronan. What I liked about this one is her breast were restored to a fuller youthful look after loss of volume from child biths and breast feeding. The after shows her nipple is sitting higher but it still looks natural and age appropriate and you can’t see any implant ridges etc. She also did not have to get the unsightly scars goin down from the nipple because he did it with a minimal incision breast lift. Her breasts look restored with no unsightly scars on them. It looks really good.
What is great about resources such as About Plastic Surgery is that you can look at so many surgery before and after pictures and they are truly informative. You can see that the results are not always perfect, yet often they drastically improve the look. So, it really gives you a good idea of what implants look like and what to expect in terms of results. I think it is so important for women to look at a lot of pictures because this gives them a realistic notion of what can and can’t be done. You can also look up faq and search for plastic surgeons by area on their web site. Thanks again to Rachel for getting us these tips courtesey of aboutplasticsurgery :-).
My personal advice with respect to breast implants (or any plastic surgery) is to reiterate what our contributor advises: research it to death. Breast implants in particular have a high rate of complications. While women can be happy with the results they are not permanent. They generally do not last a lifetime. It is a big commitment to get them and may mean more surgery years later. It is important to understand that they often need repair or replacement down the road.
