Did you love the clothes as well as the jewelry that Meryl Streep wore in the movie It’s Complicated? You aren’t the only one that loved her pendant necklace and fashion! Soft natural colors, earthy makeup and unique jewelry looked flattering on her
I went to see the movie It’s Complicated with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin today. You will laugh your butt off (and cry too) watching the movie It’s Complicated with Meryl Streep. In the movie, Meryl Streep has an affair with her Ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) and is dating Steve Martin as well. Her ex left her for a younger woman years earlier but started missing her particularly when he realized he might have to have another family with his younger beautiful new wife HaHa. Without spoiling the movie, I noticed three scenes in It’s Complicated worthy of mention on Mature Beauty.
The competition single women face in the Dating World
Dating as a mature adult is tough. It’s hard to meet men and establish true relationships when you are at this point. Once you find and attract the men you also have to know how to get the available men interested in a relationship with you. You have to know how to “Catch him and Keep Him”. In the beginning of the movie Meryl Streep is definitely a lonely single and longing for a new relationship with a man. But because she is playful, independent and relatively content with her life, she has what men (her ex husband and new boyfriend) want.
One scene in the movie was the quintessential your husband left you for a younger more gorgeous sexy model. Alec Baldwin’s wife was probably 20 plus years younger and played by the actress Lake Bell. In her first scene in the movie she was pure beauty with a perfect figure, silky long brunette hair, a total tan, a rock hard body, cleavage, and hot clothes. The scene showed Meryl’s perception of her ex’s new young wife as pure hotness and a total nightmare. Meanwhile, Meryl Streep looked matronly and … old. The scene was rather hilarious yet I am sure a somewhat true representation of how a woman would feel having to hang out with her ex-husbands ridiculously young wife at a family event.
The younger woman caused Meryl Streep to really freak out and pay a visit to a plastic surgeon wherein the surgeon described in detail to her what would be entailed in getting a brow lift. This was another classic in which Meryl Streep is sitting in a plastic surgeon’s office contemplating a brow lift after having to be subjected to the younger woman. She asked about the fore head lift while simultaneously saying that she didn’t believe in plastic surgery. She ultimately threw out the plastic surgery idea upon finding out that her whole forehead would need to be cut from ear to ear and temporary staples would hold the head scar together while it healed. She pretty much ran out of the office upon hearing that. It was a plastic surgery funny scene that captured a women’s paranoia about her loose and drooping upper eyelid skin, wrinkles and aging, and competition from younger women in general.
There were a few other scenes relating to single older women, one in particular where Meryl Streep looked longingly at a couple very much in love. This was something that any single, divorced or separated women could really relate to in the scene, including myself. You always miss the companionship and envy women who look like they are deep in love and happy. Everyone encounters stretches of time in life when they are single and those can be somewhat depressing as people always want true companionship in life. The fact that men often go with younger women makes it all the more overwhelming for mature women. The grass is always greener. This is why the twist in the movie was so up-lifting. Meryl Streep was content with her single life, and on top of that it was the older woman who had the men in love with her! Thumbs way up. I thought Alex Baldwin did a pretty believable job of being completely selfish however still harboring true feelings for his ex-wife and the family life he lost.
The outfit Meryl Streep wore that caused her to get back together with her Ex husband
Most of the outfits Meryl wore during the movie were rather frumpy yet expensive looking mature clothes. But on the night she ended up hooking up with her ex-husband she really looked amazing. Of course they did that on purpose. For one thing she was wearing a very low cut all one color dark (I believe it was black top) with a long necklace and pendant. In other posts I have stated that I liked long necklaces and at least some cleavage on mature women and that is exactly what she had going on style wise. She also had longish hair, slightly messy and tousled, another look I’ve said I loved in previous posts. She had natural looking makeup that showed off her face nicely. I thought she looked totally great!
The outfit Meryl Streep wore that cause Steve Martin to fall in love with her
This was another outfit that I loved and is the exact type of look that I think would and does look amazing on an older woman. She had on this very low cut crème colored top with another light bronze top over it. The tops were draped but slinky and showed off her cleavage and figure to the absolute advantage. She had sexy hoop earrings on (I’ve said hoop earrings are the only type of large dangly earring I love) and again a long necklace with an interesting pendant. A long more substantial chain necklace is more attractive than short necklaces as it does not draw attention to the older neckline of a woman. I loved her casual tousled full hair and natural but still clearly there makeup. She really looked happy and sexy in that scene as well. In both scenes in which Meryl looked stunning she was wearing solid colored clothes in vibrant hues (black and light bronze) which is the most attractive thing to wear. Neither had obnoxious patterns but rather luxurious solid hues with some simple sexy jewelry added.
I thought Meryl Streep looked pretty in the movie and her two sexy outfits that she wore both in which men fell in love with her were right up the alley of what I have learned really does look good on a mature woman. The combination of solid color clothes with nice texture and vibrant hues, simple jewelry with a modern urban edgy look to it, natural but enhancing makeup, and longer full flouncy hair, made the most of Meryl Streep’s sex appeal in It’s Complicated. For a woman of 60 years old, she really looked incredible in the clothes she wore in It’s Complicated. She is still going strong with her back to back hits It’s Complicated and Julia & Julia. It’s Complicated (directed by Nancy Meyers) was a cute movie that will make you laugh and cry. A great “chick flick”.
